In summer 2012, scientists at CERN observed what is now believed to be the elusive “God particle”.

Professor Millican does believe there is worth in investigating the idea.

“This Matrix thought-experiment is actually a bit like some ideas of Descartes and Berkeley, hundreds of years ago. Even if there turns out to be nothing in it, the fact that you have got into the habit of thinking crazy things could mean that at some point, you are going to think of something that initially may seem rather way out, but turns out not to be crazy at all.”

Just as it it possible for us humans to conduct experiments with controlled variables such as the environment for whatever it may be that is being tested... (which can be of the smallest form for a fraction of a second by smashing particles together over at CERN to testing something monolithic in comparison (to particles) like animals or ourselves that live for years and years) .. Is it then not possible that life in this planet was such an experiment?

It is said in the book of Genesis that God created humans.

Genesis 1:26
"Then Elohim said, 'Let us make humans in our image, in our likeness. Let them rule the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the domestic animals all over the earth, and all the animals that crawl on the earth.”

'So Elohim created humans in his image. In the image of Elohim he created them. He created them male and female.'

God is revered to as Elohim  in Hebrew. However there is still debate as to weather Elohim was referring to more than one "God". after all it does say "Let US make humans in OUR image. "

Which then begs the question ... Who created (the) Elohim?

The very nature of questioning belief systems I believe does not automatically make someone a heathen or atheist. In turn just makes the idea of "God" bigger ..sort of gives a much bigger perspective about the TRUE CREATOR. 

Going back to what I said earlier in this comment.. wouldn't conducting an experiment with controlled variables, to include a controlled environment, not be the foundation of a Matrix? 

If so, then is it possible to have multiple Matrices co-existing with one another?  

Lets say for a moment that the article is true about aliens creating our reality matrix... (which might explain for our short life spans, our general inability to recall our previous lifetimes and our lack of "physic" abilities or even the fact that we only utilize 10% of our DNA to which the rest our science deems as "junk DNA") ...then is it not possible that those extraterrestrials live within a much bigger matrix? A sort of Universal "God" Matrix? Is this what those NASA scientist over at CERN said they observed to be the Higgs Boson AKA The God Particle?

It is also worth mentioning that 99.99% of all matter is empty space which suggests that we live in a holographic universe (or multi-verse depending on your perspective).

Perhaps a Living (conscious) Matrix exists within every other matrix that exists.
